Parent Advisory Council

School Council is a structured group that works together to effectively support and enhance student learning. It provides a means for members of a school community to consult with and provide advice to the principal and the school board. Parents are encouraged to become involved in their School Council. The opportunity for election is early in the school year. In addition to the executive, a variety of parents, community members, and school staff members participate. 

Parent participation in the St. Nicholas School Council develops a wider exposure to division business that can be mutually beneficial to the board, the school, and the community.

The School Council does not discuss issues concerning individual students or staff. These should be addressed with the teacher involved and failing that it should be addressed with the principal at a private meeting.

Fundraising Society 

The school also has an incorporated society (under the Societies Act) called the St. Nicholas Parent Advisory Society that raises funds for the school. From time to time it holds fundraising events for the benefit of the students and the school.

We invite all interested parents and guardians to attend our School Council and Society meetings throughout the school year. 

Meetings are held every other month at 5:30 p.m. at the school. School Council is a wonderful way to meet other parents and families from your school community so we encourage parents and guardians to come in person to attend. We do understand that families can be busy so we also will be offering the option to join the meetings virtually. The link to the meetings will be sent via email on the day of. 

We acknowledge and thank all parents that have been able to attend the School Advisory Meetings. This partnership is highly valued as it has a positive educational benefit for all students at St. Nicholas.
